Advice before you bring home a dog

Find a dog that best matches your personality and lifestyle:

If you are planning to buy or to adopt a dog and have no experience with dogs, I can give you advice on choosing the right dog. You will also get information about the cost of owning a dog and about diseases, parasites and other common canine health problems.

If you are looking for a puppy:

The validity of puppy tests for predicting specific behavioural traits in adult dogs is limited. However, some negative behavioral outliers can be identified, and desired behavior can be trained. My consulting services include the evaluation and the training of puppies.

If you want to adopt a found dog or a dog from a shelter:

“Second-hand-dogs” deserve a chance for a new home and they often exhibit an intense connection with the rescuer. However, behavior problems are frequently seen in rescue animals, but are not always apparent to those people adopting or rescuing them. Moreover, first-time dog owners are often insecure in dealing with their new family member. Dogs notice this immediately, and it makes it difficult to get used to each other. And sometimes the dog will be returned to the shelter. In order to avoid such problems, I would be pleased to help you select the most appropriate dog and support you in the acclimation period.

If you are looking for a breed dog:

When selecting from the more than 340 breeds, knowledge of the specific characteristics is required on the one hand, and on the other hand, the life circumstances and ideas of the owners must be taken into consideration in order to make a suitable choice. I offer to find out which breed matches your personality and lifestyle best.
